MY House wants to thank Matanuska Electric Association for its generous $9,700 Roundup Grant to support the training and staffing of our new “Steamdriven Boutique.” This grant funded sewing machines, carpet installation and tagging of clothes. In addition, MY House will be able to continue with training for clothing design and manufacturing of “steampunk” attire.
The Keller Williams’ “Red Day” got things rolling with shelving moved, the area cleared out to paint and prepped for lighting installation. This effort could not have happened without the IBEW installing the track lighting as a donation. Fred Meyer, Sears and many community members donated clothing, hangers and other materials that were much needed. With Matt Yoders’ custom graffiti painting finished, the Steamdriven Boutique will open Sept. 5 as a retail storefront. It would not have happened without all these great sponsors, their grants, donations and hard work. Also, homeless youth will be able to access needed clothing in the boutique through a voucher process after completing their goals through case management. Thank you to all.
