To the editor:
We would like to express our appreciation to Mokie Tews and Co. for their good work just off the Knik River Road this summer. These efforts resulted in a much better road surface, widening and more culverts for improved drainage.
Our neighbors and community council continue to work toward the completion of two very important already planned and surveyed projects along the beautiful Knik River Road area. They are important safety concerns for travel on this road and quicker response time to forest and residential fires.
The Mile 7 pullout/parking area will allow safer viewing time for folks enjoying the great view and photo shots of the massive Knik Glacier. Two way traffic can then keep proper distance and speed to the conditions on this hill.
At Mile 8 the pullout and turn around will allow emergency services and fire trucks to secure more water resources. The supply distances we face there will be cut allowing quicker response time for fire suppression. We will have much greater protection for our community and help in lowering the rising cost of fire insurance premiums in our area.
