Then Mat-Su Ski Club Board of Directors would like to express their thanks to the 120 volunteers from the Colony, Palmer and Wasilla High School Cross Country Teams and the Mat-Su Ski Club who helped remove rocks, roots and ruts from the Government Peak Rec Area Ski Trails on Friday 29 July.
The Contractor installing the trail lights did a great job in minimizing the damage to the trails however, laying underground cable and installing the lights and poles definitely impacted the trails.
The volunteers armed with rakes, shovels, root loppers and great attitudes contributed 287 hours working on the trails. The trails will be reseeded by the ski club volunteers next week and the trails should be in fantastic shape this upcoming ski season. THINK SNOW!
