Thanksgiving events scheduled throughout the Valley

WASILLA — There is an assortment of community driven Thanksgiving events going on around the Mat-Su Valley. Below is a list of local events.

Alaska Food Banks annual Thanksgiving Blessing

Each year, the Alaska Food Bank coordinates with churches across Alaska to feed those in need. The Mat-Su Valley has several pick up locations for local individuals and families based on their ZIP codes.

Thanksgiving Day Buffet hosted by Sheep Creek Lodge

The Sheep Creek Lodge is hosting a Thanksgiving buffet for locals. Meals include turkey, ham and all the other traditional Thanksgiving staples.

The event is Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Sheep Creek Lodge is located at Mile 88 Parks Hwy.

Admission is $20 for adults and kids 6 to 12 and kids under five are admitted for free. Important note: anyone who’s home was lost in the McKinley Fire eats for free.

Thanksgiving Pie Sale Fundraiser hosted by All About Dance

All About Dance is raising funds to support their travels to Oregon and Utah for a national competition. Those interested in supporting the trip can purchase pies Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thanksgiving potluck at Palmer Church on the Rock

The Palmer Church on the Rock is hosting their annual Thanksgiving Potluck where they provide the turkey and attendees are encouraged to provide the side dishes Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at 619 E Scott Road, Palmer.

It will be an evening full of fun, food and fellowship” plus games.
