WASILLA — The Crumby Bakery is officially open for business.
The new small business located off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway celebrated its grand opening Saturday, Feb. 10.
"It was a great grand opening. We had a wonderful time," The Crumby Bakery owner Casey Kruger said.
According to Kruger, a large number of community members attended the grand opening. She said they also had other small business owners stop by to show their support.
"It was a full house all day which is a big blessing for us," Kruger said. We are feeling very encouraged and very thankful… It's really heartwarming to be encouraged and lifted by everyone."
The Crumby Bakery offers a variety of baked goods such as their specialty dish, Crumby Buns, a treat that's similar to cinnamon rolls that comes in a variety of flavors. There's a variety of sweet Crumby Bun options available with flavors such as cinnamon-sugar, Nutella, and mixed berry. There's also numerous savory Crumby Bun flavors customers can choose from such as Pesto & Parm and pizza.
The Crumby Bakery works with several local vendors to sell various food items such as locally sourced honey and jam. They also serve coffee from Cold Snap Coffee and sell bags of their beans. Kruger said that she's happy to collaborate with so many talented small business owners and promote their products at her establishment.
"I am so thankful and overjoyed we have the space to offer that now," Kruger said.
Kruger runs the Crumby Bakery with her husband F. Jay. This is her first time running a brick and mortar business. She has several years of vendor experience selling her goods at various venues through her small business Fox Sauce, LLC. She also manages the 1st Saturday Vendor Market out of the Borough Gym.
"We are thrilled to be here," Kruger said. "It's really exciting."
The Crumby Bakery doesn't stop at baked goods. Kruger has ambitious goals for the future. She plans to add BBQ food items such as pulled pork sandwiches featuring her signature Fox Sauce recipe that was handed down by her grandfather. She also hopes to host children baking classes, community events, and meeting space for local groups and businesses.
The Crumby Bakery is located at 4931 East Mayflower Lane # 2 in Wasilla.
