The Frontiersman is launching a new section – AK•MIL

AK-Mil

Having moved to Alaska this past summer, I spent some time around a fire pit with some of my new neighbors. All great people. I’m lucky to have them as neighbors.

In all the evening’s chitchat, one thing really stuck with me – one of my neighbors, David, is active military. He spoke of his family’s travels, the sacrifices they’ve made, the people they’ve met and their time as an Air Force family. He spoke about his drive to JBER every day and the good schools his kids attend here in the Mat-Su Valley. They are the type of family so many of us are, and they are the type of Americans we want standing to defend us.

Our service men & women are a large part of why The Frontiersman is launching a new section – AK•MIL. Their stories are compelling, and the effects of the military in Alaska on our lives is substantial. These stories need to be told more widely.

So what should you be looking for…

Starting this Jan. 21, you’ll enjoy The Frontiersman’s pages that focus on the stories about our military neighbors — those who are both active and retired military personnel. You’ll see stories about the businesses they run, their hobbies, the dreams they pursue.

Watch for the logo and when you see it you’ll know we’re focusing on Alaska military topics, people and issues – like David and his family.

We hope you enjoy the stories we bring you every week. Please, if you know of impactful stories about our services or service members that need to be told contact our editorial team at editor@frontiersman.com.
