Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

When I was a young teen in the late 1950s, you did not hear many teachings that were contrary to the word of God in the Christian community in my area. Yes, there were different ideas in some areas, but not much false teaching.
Today, it seems there are people that are saying things against God’s inspired word just to see how far they can go. A lot of those confused ideas become answered when one is born again, because the key that unlocks all the promises of God can be found when a person becomes a child of God.
Jesus taught that a man must be born again.
John 3:3 “... except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:5 “except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
Matthew 18:3 “except you be converted, and become as a little child, you shall not enter into the kingdom of God.”
The new birth is necessary to be saved.
The new birth is not confirmation, church membership, water baptism, going to church, being moral, doing good deeds, intellectual understanding of Christianity or doing any of the many things in which some people are trusting to save them.
The Bible is a mystery book until we find the key that opens it. Then it ceases to be a mystery and becomes a message.
To understand the Bible, one must be born again; the new birth is the rebirth of the human spirit!
The new birth does not take place gradually; it is instantaneous! It is a gift of God, received the moment we believe.
Ephesians 2:8 “for by grace you are saved through faith ...”
Salvation through Jesus Christ is brought about by following these steps: 1. Recognize that you are a sinner — lost, without God, and without hope.
2. Admit that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from sin with his own precious blood.
3. Come to God, turn away from sin and confess Jesus as your Lord, and you shall be born again.
Romans 10:9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved, For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
As you see here, the Bible teaches that you get saved because you believe and say something — not just because you believe, but on the other side of this you don’t get saved — born-again, because you say something without heartfelt believing and believing the Bible is God’s message to us and that is the very fundamentals of Christianity.
I have a real desire to tell people not to be taken in by false teachings because as we approach the end times, the end of the church age, there will be more and more false teachings, so we must study the word of God so we know right from wrong.
I heard a man of God teaching in this area and he said, “Stay away from interpretations of man who tear apart the simple Scriptures and leave you confused. They do not care for your soul or they would not seek to rob you of your true Christian experience.
“When they fight so hard to rob you of your biblical benefits, you must recognize that they are agents of the devil. It matters not that they are the most refined and wonderful religious men you have ever met — they are not ministers of God if they are robbing you of God’s blessing.”
Being born-again – becoming a child of God – is of foremost importance.
The mysteries of the Bible before one is born-again then become a message to those that are truly a Christian.
The word of God tells us why an unsaved person cannot understand God’s message. The answer is in 1 Corinthians 2:14, “but the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Another translation says.” But people who aren’t Christians cannot understand these truths from God’s spirit...”
That is why the Bible, the inspired word of God, is so confusing to nonbelievers. The Bible is a mystery to them, but to a born-again believer it is an inspired message from God.
God’s word is not like bobbing for apples, take one leave the rest, all the blessings of God’s word are there for the born-again believer and through faith in his word and action, we become partakers of God’s message.
When one gets saved, the Bible becomes a message from God, and with the leading of the Holy Spirit you can grasp the message of love and the light received can shine before men, then you will lift up the word of God for the multitudes that need eternal life.
