This design will appear on the 2010 T-shirts for the Mat-Su Miners. Brook-Lyn Henry, a junior at Colony High School, created the design. The 17-year-old’s work was submitted as part of a contest sponsored cooperatively by the Mat-Su Miners, the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman, MTA, Silvertip Design and Erik Christensen State Farm Insurance. Contest rules specified that all entries must include the Miners logo and the words Mat-Su Miners and Alaska Baseball League. No photographs could be used. By winning the contest, Henry received $200, season passes to Mat-Su’s 2010 home games, the winning shirt and a three-month subscription to the Frontiersman. Silvertip Designs is producing the T-shirt, which will be available for purchase during the upcoming season. Judges also awarded a runner-up, and that design will appear on another T-shirt. That design will be unveiled during the Miners’ Opening Day ceremonies.
