To the editor:
In an article in The Daily Ticker, “Occupy Wall Street Shows People Want Democracy, Not Corporatocracy,” Stacy Curtin reports, “a Quinnipiac University poll found respondents in New York City agreed with the views of the protesters by a 67 percent to 23 percent majority.”
Indeed, we all know our biggest companies are paying the lowest corporate taxes in modern history because our government has conspired with these companies to let them transfer prices and hide profits internationally. Giant banks like Citigroup and Credit Suisse have been allowed to simply pay fines without even admitting to allegations of fraud by the SEC. So, nobody goes to jail and nobody even gets a criminal record for effectively stealing from us and collapsing our economy.
This is outrageous and unacceptable to the masses. Is it any wonder that this Occupy Wall Street revolution is growing and spreading like wildfire around the world? Like it or not, the people’s revolution has begun.
We in the USA are fed up with corporate influence and control of both main political parties to the point that we are living under what amounts to a corporate dictatorship. Our democracy has become a farce in which no third party has a meaningful chance to win. The people will boycott these purchased political parties and politicians, put an end to the Electoral College and shall put their our own in charge by popular vote for a change.
The people insist on recovering their political power, their democracy and their economy — and they can no longer be stopped.
