The world is ours

Good evening friends, relatives, teachers, and guests. I'd first like to honor the formality of the evening by limiting myself to one "Woo-Woo!" and one "yeah baby" during the length of this speech.

This final year of high school is the year we have all been waiting for, the year that we as children envisioned as the ultimate cool. All years leading up to senior year feel like they last an eternity. However, oddly enough once it arrives, everything we could possible think of happens all at once, then before you know it you’re out-on your own.

This school we attend…attended…is a very special school. We have heard a lot of talk about the culture here from the adults. From a former student’s perspective, the adults are correct. …. I've said that a lot this year…

Prior to attending career tech we all mostly went to larger high schools. I attended Colony High school where there were roughly 1200 students .While I did make a lot of friends, there were just too many people and not a variety of classes to choose from.

Walking down the halls of the larger schools you would expect to hear profanity the latest baby drama and about some girl's new boyfriend that has shag and bought her Abercrombie. Here at Career Tech, walking down the halls you hear computer terms, assignments being called out and the names of body parts…used correctly!

While someone in a large school might make a few friends this class of 09 are all friends. Sure we have our differences but isn't that why we are here? During this school year we took care of each other. It wasn't one person working to better themselves. It was everyone working as teams to promote every single person. I can recall numerous times asking fellow classmates in the business field with help on my computer troubles. Literally three mouse clicks later problem solved. I thank them by telling them next time you have trouble with your right distal phalange flexion you let me know.

I've gained so much from this high school both professionally and personally these last two years and it is something that I will always carry with me.

As I come to a close I'd like to make two final points. To all current enrollees and to all incoming students we have raised the bar it is your duty to raise it even higher. I'd also like to leave them with a few words my brother told me as he headed off to the military. You all better behave. If I hear you’re miss behaving I will fly back here so fast and when I get back here my size 14 shoe will be …I’ll stop there…You get the idea.. We have set the culture, keep it going, and don’t let silly mistakes get in your way.

My final point…To all graduates…The world is ours lets do this!

Thank you so much everyone and congratulations class of 2009
