Theater lovers have plenty of choices to pick from this weekend, as Valley Performing Arts debuts "All My Sons" while the Palmer Elks are putting on their spring melodrama.

At Valley Performing Arts, director Rod Mehrtens has assembled an all-star cast for "All My Sons." With Grant Olson and Bonnie Honkola in lead roles, there is no shortage of experience, both on and off the stage.

Mehrtens is the technical director at Valley Performing Arts, and for "All My Sons" he pulls a double play, both designing the set and directing the show.

While the "pros" at VPA are putting on their show in Wasilla, a group from the Palmer Elks Lodge is playing high drama on a different stage this weekend.

For 23 years, the folks from the lodge have been putting on a show every March, to get everyone ready for spring.

This year's performance is "The Great Alaska Railroad Scam," written by Douglas Kotwica and stars numerous Elks members from around the community.

Community theater is alive and well in the Valley, and for one weekend, it stretches from Wasilla to Palmer.
