There are some things the public should know

This is referencing a recent letter wherein a (local resident) snivels about the follow-up article on a couple of local drunk drivers.

When you or your spouse is an elected official, you represent the public. You are expected to set the example. And when you set a bad example, the public has a right to know about it. That is a fact of life. If you don’t like that, I suggest you stay out of politics.

The article printed by the Frontiersman also serves to show the public that big-wigs or their spouses don’t get special treatment from our law enforcement people. It also shows the lack of judgement from some judges.

Perhaps if the Frontiersman printed more articles on what happens to drunk drivers it might serve to prevent other people from making that error in judgement.

Let me be blunt on this issue — both of the drunk drivers identified in the article are lucky that no one was injured or killed by their irresponsible acts. They assaulted the public, they showed a total lack of concern for the safety of the public.

All the fines in the world won’t replace a human life or ease the pain of a mangled child. People who threaten the safety of the public need to be identified to the public, and the courts need to pay attention to (the law).
