In today’s world, we live in exciting times filled with all the advances of technology you could imagine — and not even imagine. But for the Christian the follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s word still takes precedence over all the knowledge in this world.
I heard a comment the other day about word of faith believers. I guess I had never given it much thought that some Christians have an issue with believing what you say as going too far in the faith message. I just thought those Christians who did not speak correctly according to the word of God had just never grabbed hold of this truth, but then I realized they had been taught through false teaching to deny this biblical truth. I would like to look at the word of God in “what you say” as a born-again Christian.
In the 11th chapter of the Gospel of Mark, we see where Jesus cursed the fig tree, and when Peter asked Jesus about it, Jesus answered and said to them “have faith in God.” In verse 23, Jesus said, “for assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatsoever he says.”
This is a profound statement that Jesus made, and if you’ll notice the word “say” is in there three times where “believe” is only in there once. I heard one minister say that “there will have to be three times as much teaching on sayings as on believing to see the light of Jesus’ statement here.”
When you believe God exists and that he loves you and wants to meet your needs, then your belief creates faith in your heart.
Many times, Christians only want to believe what they have been taught, and sometimes these teachings do not even line up with the word of God. The book of Proverbs is so enlightening and powerful on “saying.”
Proverbs 6:1 says, “… you are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth.” Then in 21:23 it continues, “whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.”
Throughout the word of God it speaks about what we say. The world does not understand about speaking things into existence. God spoke the world into existence; human reasoning does not understand this spiritual truth.
A pastor in Korea tells of a time that he spoke to a neurosurgeon. The neurosurgeon said medical science had just discovered that when you speak, your central nervous system tries to comply with what you have said. This pastor said, “Yes I know that.” The neurosurgeon asked, “How could you possibly know that? Medical science just discovered that.” The pastor replied that 2,000 years ago, Dr. Luke showed that truth in the scriptures.
“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones,” Proverbs 16:24. Proverbs 18:21 says, “death and life are in the power of the tongue ...”
When we speak, it should line up with the word of God.
Christians should be speaking life, say what God says about you, you are can overcome through Jesus Christ.
Your faith will never rise above your confession; confession here is saying who you are in Christ, saying what the word of God says about you.
When studying the word of God on faith you will find one of the most important things you should know about faith is that faith must be released in word through your mouth. That is why when one sees a biblical truth and believes it in faith and confesses with his mouth, that particular blessing is his.
One of the greatest blessings that God has for us is salvation
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation,” Romans 10:9-10.
As you can see from this scripture, “saying” is an integral part of receiving salvation.
Our faith must be in what God says, and God’s word says you can speak to that mountain in your life. Get that biblical truth in your heart, in your innermost being, your spirit, and speak life.
