Think twice about driving with cellphones

To the editor:

The driver of any vehicle is the driver. These people do not use a cell phone. They have plenty of multitasking going on because — that’s right — they are drivers.

Others in the vehicle around you can use a cell phone, and they are actually depending on you not to call out or answer incomings unless, of course, it’s a 911. Thanks to all those drivers I have seen pull off the side of the road to use their cells. I wish it were that easy for me too. It’s so addictive.

While sitting at a light lately I have been looking around while, ah, talking. There are lots using cell phones and, yes, it is a little scary. I am 67 years getting where I’m at, older an loving it, but kids just starting their youth with a phone coming out of their driver’s ear, maneuvering a left turn in traffic? This all deserves a rethink, ya think?
