MAT-SU — With the election over, the results certified and new members seated, the next step on a couple of local governing bodies is to elect officers.
In Houston, one of those offices is that of the mayor. Houston City Council choose to stick with mayor Virgie Thompson and her second-in-command, deputy mayor Jim Johansen. Both were returned to their positions unanimously.
On the Mat-Su Borough School Board, members chose to stick with Michael Dunleavy as president and Susan Pougher as clerk, but elected a new vice president in Sarah Welton. Prior to the election, Erick Cordero had held that position.
