I am writing this letter because my husband won’t ( I am married to a very nice man).
I am also very tired of hearing our lovely governor bad-mouthing the old Matanuska Maid Dairy doard. The newspapers are just as bad, as they keep things stirred up.
My husband worked for the state Division of Agriculture for many years, and he understands what’s going on in the state. Many of you were blaming the board for the circumstances that were affecting the dairy. The truth is that they tried everything to turn things around, but with the rising costs there wasn’t much they could do.
They have been trying to get the creamery into private ownership for a long time. But if you listen to the governor, the old board was a bunch of dummies. Tonight on the news she said that they must not have been up front and honest with her. She should check the records. The creamery was audited by the Department of Natural Resources, which is part of the state government.
I am very sorry to hear that things have not improved with the creamery, but maybe now the members of the old board can get some credit for what they do know. The new board has found things the same as the old board did. Some things should not be hashed out in the media until all the facts are in.
