A couple thousand spectators lined the streets of downtown Wasilla Sunday morning to celebrate America's independence, and the country turning 234-years-old.

A whooping 70 plus floats, fire trucks, and antique cars made their way along the parade route to cheers and waves from excited spectators. Leading the procession was the Wasilla Police Department followed by a group of military personel from Kulis Air National Guard Base in Anchorage. As the group made their way down Herning Street, Valley resident Mike Cooper stepped off the sidewalk and thanked each one with a hand shake as they passed. Others cheered and whistled to show their appreciation.

Further down in front of Teelands the parade judges were making notes as each float stopped in the road for a second or two. On the microphone announcing each entry was master of ceremonies KMBQ's John Klapperich.

Over near the Honor Garden the Wasilla Sunrise Rotary was grilling up 2000 hot dogs for the crowd gathered at the Mayor's Picinic. Cotton candy and sno-cones were being consumed as fast as the volunteers could pass them out.

There were bounce-houses and inflatable slides as well as face painting and sack races for the kids.
