WASILLA — A juvenile is facing a single charge after officials from a local school contacted authorities earlier this week.
The Alaska State Troopers received a report of a threat at Teeland Middle School in Wasilla, according to an online dispatch published by AST on Wednesday.
“Alaska State Troopers responded to Teeland Middle School for a report of a student had made a comment of having a firearm and was going to shoot up the school,” troopers said in the release. “The student in question admitted to making the comment, adding it was only a joke.”
Troopers learned the student had a metal case which looked like a gun case, but troopers said it was a poker chip and dice case.
“No firearm was ever involved in the incident, and no actual danger toward the students and staff was present,” troopers said.
The juvenile has been charged with one count of terroristic threatening in the second degree. That charge has been forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice, troopers said, and the Office of Children Services has also been contacted.
