WASILLA — The new Three Bears Alaska grocery store begins to take shape near Mile 6 of Knik-Goose Bay Road. Some fast facts:

• The new store is more than 45,000 square feet.

• It will feature groceries, sporting goods, a liquor store and on-site gas station.

• A projected soft opening is scheduled for late June.

• The grand opening will be July 1.

• The project has created 22 construction jobs and when finished will create 62 permanent jobs.

• According to the Mat-Su Borough manager’s economic development report, the new store is roughly a $9 million project.

• The contractor is Criterion General Inc.

• Subcontractors include Slayden Plumbing and Heating, Clemons Electric, Simplex Grinnell, B.C Excavating LLC and Cool Air Mechanical Inc.

• This will be the third Three Bears Alaska store in the Valley.
