PALMER — At approximately 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, emergency officials responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of Alaska and Arctic.
Three pedestrians, 41-year-old Rebecca Szumiesz, 18-year-old Sean Szumiesz and a 16-year-old female juvenile were injured when they were struck by a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by Jamie Hohn, a 25-year-old Wasilla resident.
The three victims were transported via ground ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Hospital with what Palmer Police Chief Lance Ketterling described as "serious injuries, but didn't appear life-threatening."
Hohn was given a citation for disobeying a traffic control device, in this case, running a red light.
Traffic at the intersection was interrupted for approximately an hour.
