Just about two years ago, I was sitting in a very familiar position. It was mid-January, and I was ready to shake up my lifestyle.
Better diet. Regular exercise. A focus on healthy living.
I participated in the inaugural Trim to Win contest, and competed for a cash prize handed out to the employee of the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman who loses the largest percentage of weight.
And I won.
In about three months I lost 55 pounds.
Once I dropped that weight, I swore that this new lifestyle would continue. I vowed to take it further.
Well, those who know me can see that didn’t exactly happen.
Sadly, when it comes to weight loss and the healthy living, I fell off the wagon.
Actually, the number that appeared on the scale during my official weigh-on on Monday at the AT&T Sports Center was eerily similar to the digits that popped up before my eyes two years ago.
Déjà vu or something.
I can look at this two ways.
On one hand, I can say that I moved backward for the last two years.
But I’m a glass half-full kind of guy.
I’ve done this before, and I know I can do it again.
I’ve already proved it to myself that this is possible. And now I have the benefit of the good folks at the AT&T to help me out, the reward for share my weight loss success and struggle in this blog.
The big thing for me is just getting back into a routine. And I am sure that is the same for a lot of you folks out there. Humans are creatures of habit.
Two years ago, when I knew that I had to incorporate regular exercise into my schedule and eliminate the bad habits from my dietary choices, it all came part of the routine. That is what I am working toward now.
I have fairly specific goals when it comes to weight loss. There are certain numbers I’d like to hit. But I think my biggest goal this time around is to make sure I am not having these same thoughts two years from now.
Good luck to all,
JB
