MAT-SU — Last weekend, dozens of golfers hit their way across the fairways at Fishhook Golf Course outside of Palmer and by Friday afternoon, locals should have three open golf courses to choose from.

Palmer Golf Course opened all 18 holes on Wednesday, with course officials citing great conditions for this time of year. PGC is slated to be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning on Saturday. Green fees are currently $20 and will be adjusted as course conditions improve. PGC is walk-only, with the use of carts still restricted.

Settlers Bay is expected to have all 18 holes open Friday at 11 a.m., superintendent of golf course operations Amos Stephens said Wednesday afternoon. Settlers is opening two weeks earlier than last year, Stephens said, and the course will have real greens on all 18 holes.

“No temps, no partial covers,” Stephens said.

Carts can be used, but restricted to paths only.

Rates will be $35 for 18 holes on Friday and $46 during the weekend.

Fishhook has been open from 10 a.m. to early evening each day.
