To the editor:
I have been reading articles in your paper on why we should vote for all the bond issues on this ballot coming up. Am I the only one who thinks our country, state and borough should start to tighten their belts and prepare for what is about to become a very dire time for our nation, state and borough?
My folks and I, and Millie’s folks, too, went through the Great Depression in the 1930s and 1940s and believe me it was a long haul getting things back to where they should be. Many things were rationed back then.
I am voting “No” on all those bond issues this time and hope and pray that by the time they come up again, things are looking and feeling better, and then perhaps, too, we will be more appreciative of all the improvements.
I am seeing far too many people ahead of me in line at the grocery store using food stamps and far too many people sleeping in the outdoors to think we can afford any portion of these bond issues now.
I am hoping everyone works together and pulls in their belts at this time and quits asking for things that are unrealistic.
