Timothy Alexander Roy, 67, of Palmer Alaska passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tim was born in London, England on June 14, 1956, to Valeria Kiturkes and Robert Roy. After returning to the United States with his family, he graduated from Immaculata High School located in Somerville, New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor’s in Biology from Trenton State College and a Master’s in Environmental Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology. After college, Tim was employed as an Environmental Engineer with various chemical corporations. In 1984, Tim first met his wife, Caroline Bishop at a State Collegiate Archery Competition. They met again in Fall of 1986, at a conference in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and bumped heads again in 1987 when she was working for a consulting firm and Tim’s employer was the client. They were married shortly thereafter on July 9, 1988. Tim and Caroline went on to have two beautiful daughters, Kelly and Amy.

In 1996, the family of four moved to Alaska and started their adventure in Nikiski and later, Palmer. He was employed with the State of Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs located at JBER, Anchorage, as an Environmental Program Specialist. In 2010, Tim was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and beat it into submission allowing him to return to work and participate in many family milestones. These included watching Amy graduate, watching Kelly graduate, and traveling. His biggest milestone was spending nearly 14 more years with his family and friends. After a lengthy career, he retired in 2015. He started his next adventure pursuing the things he loved, working on the farm, and playing and running with his family pack of dogs.

Throughout his life, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hiking, fishing, snow machining, boating, spending time at the remote cabin, and volunteering as a dog handler for the Iditarod. He was an avid Dungeons and Dragons player whose best stats were strength and constitution, a technology wizard, and attended annual Renaissance Festivals in Alaska and Minnesota. Tim was predeceased by his mother Valeria and his father Robert. He is survived by his loving wife Caroline of Palmer and his daughters Kelly Roy and Amy Roy of Anchorage. He is also survived by his six sisters. Catherine Roy of New Haven, Connecticut, Theresa Roy and Sharon Roy of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Nancy McCall and her husband Joseph of Toms River, New Jersey, Maria Daniels and her husband Jeff of Nazareth Pennsylvania, and Laura Roy and her husband Henri van de Vrugt. He is also survived by an abundance of nieces and nephews and his closest childhood friend Greg Pin of Danbury, Connecticut.

A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at Janssen’s Mat-Su Funeral Home (907- 754-5477) located at 6901 E. Blue Lupine Drive, Palmer, Alaska on Friday, March 15 from 5:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
