TIOGA The Tioga Pirates jumped out to a lead and held off a late rally by Bowbells to chalk up a 69-62 win Thursday in boys area Class B basketball.
The Pirates jumped out to an early lead and a strong second quarter gave them a 34-24 halftime edge. Bowbells began to chip away in the third quarter and put up 22 points in the fourth, but Tioga kept pace to keep the rally at bay.
The Eskimos were led by Matt Carlsons 23 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter comeback bid. John Carlson scored 12 and Courtney Seime added 10.
Brooks Dockter led four Pirates in double figures with 18 points, followed by Brian Lovdahl with 17, Josh Wenger with 15 and Jim Beck with 12. Dockter was 13-of-14 from the free throw line and 12-of-13 in the fourth quarter.
