PALMER -- Vandals with a penchant for tire slashing ripped their way through Palmer last week, hitting at least 12 vehicles, according to police.
At 8:39 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, a Palmer police officer investigated a report of tires slashed on a Ford truck parked behind Denali Steakhouse. While investigating, the officer found another car with slashed tires behind the restaurant and two more cars with slashed tires on Bailey Street near Fireweed.
At 10:27 p.m., a woman reported the tires of her GMC truck were slashed while it was parked behind the Mat-Su school district building.
On Friday at 7:30 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of S. Bailey reported two tires were slashed on his car overnight.
A couple of hours later, Palmer police received another report of tires slashed while the car was parked overnight near La Fiesta. At 3:41 p.m. another S. Bailey resident, on the 500 block, reported all four tires on his car were slashed.
The vandals apparently continued their spree Saturday. At 10:41 a.m., a resident on the 400 block of S. Cobb reported tires had been slashed on two of his vehicles and on several other vehicles in the neighborhood.
There were no reports of slashed tires on Sunday, however, on Monday at 7:45 a.m., a man told Palmer police the tires of his car were slashed while it was parked behind the Moosehead Saloon, followed by another call at 9:20 a.m. by a man reporting two of the tires on his girlfriend's Dodge Caravan were slashed while it was parked on the 200 block of W. Cottonwood.
