Veteran VPA actor Sarah Hendricks stars as Toad in Valley Performing Arts' annual children's production, Toad of Toad Hall, which opens at 8 p.m. today at Machetanz Theatre in Wasilla.
Toad of Toad Hall is a comedy based on Kenneth Grahame's book, Wind in the Willows. Toad is an eccentric English gentleman who has gone insane. His friends, Badger, Rat and Mole, try to protect him from himself.
Joining Hendricks on stage are Joseph Meyers, who plays Mole; Daria Preston, who plays Ratty; and Sven Johnson, who plays Badger. The production is directed by Judy Dossett, with Rod Mehrtens handling set and lighting design.
The rest of the cast includes Chelsea Jones, Lauren Gette-King, John Morgan, Sara Cannon, Rachele Foster, Jacquie Lutz, Melody Mileur, Mollie Whipple, Dillon Williams, Jamie Downing, Signe Johnson, Courtney Lauer, Payton Heath McCann, Maddie Mansavage and Gunnar Williams.
Show times are 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays. The production runs through April 11.
