Top athletes break hour mark in triathlon

WASILLA — Alisa Kincaid posted the fastest time to win the Why Not Tri triathlon in Wasilla last week.

Kincaid needed a mark of 55 minutes, 17 seconds to win the race, which included a 400-meter swim in the Wasilla Pool, a 9.25-mile bike ride and a 3-mile race.

Kincaid’s time was best in the men’s and women’s classes. Jeromie Sandall finished first in the men’s race with a time of 55:27. Sandall finished just ahead of runner-up David Cadogan and Scott Clemetson, who finished third. Cadogan finished at 55:46, seven seconds faster than Clemetson.

Shannon Titzel and Abby Jahn also broke the hour mark in the women’s race. Titzel finished second at 59:20, about three seconds ahead of the third-place Jahn.

The Victorious Egret won the three-person team class. Cristobal Carrillo, Tyler Greeson and Phillip Sebastiani combined to post a time of 55:20.
