PALMER — Those attending the Alaska State Fair can stroll into Tracy’s Treasures, a trove of unique items and lots of laughter.

Tracy Lorentz said that she’s thoroughly enjoying her second year as a fair vendor. She said that her favorite part of this experience will always be the people, whether it’s joyfully interacting with a new face, catching up with a regular from her brick and mortar in downtown Wasilla, or cracking jokes with her best friend Karen Fitch.

“It’s the best life,” Lorentz said with a laugh.

Tracy’s Treasures offers a wide range of unique and locally made items from sources across the community, including quirky kitchenware, clothing, accessories, wall decorations, figurines, and one-of-a-kind gifts for all ages and demographics.

Lorentz said that she offers a combination of items that can be found at the store and items that are specifically tailored to the fair. She said that she plans to come back to the Fair with a different selection of goods every year.

“Every year I like to change it up,” Lorentz said. “I want to be different every year. I like to challenge myself.”

Tracy’s Treasures was featured in the annual Alaska State Fair Parade for the first time this year.

“It was amazing,” I was grateful to be in the parade and it was so much fun,” Lorentz said.

Lorentz said that she’s very thankful for the opportunity to participate as a fair vendor.

“It’s exciting and still seems new,” Lorentz said. “I feel privileged that I was allowed to come back.”

Lorentz marveled at the sheer amount of talent exhibited by all the different types of vendors that come together in one place each year.

“They’re fabulous,” Lorentz said. “I love that there’s new vendors. I’m sad to see old vendors go but it’s refreshing to see the new vendors thriving.”
