TALKEETNA — A head-on crash with a semi truck killed a Trapper Creek man Monday.
According to a press release from the Alaska State Troopers, the crash was reported at 11:45 p.m. at Mile 104 Parks Highway.
Troopers say that David Roach, 60, of Trapper Creek, was northbound in his Toyota pickup when he crossed the centerline in front of the southbound Peterbilt tractor-trailer with which Donald Braun, 71, of Anchorage, was hauling dual flat bed trailers.
“Braun attempted to stop his tractor-trailer but was unable to stop and the vehicles collided head-on,” troopers report.
Roach died on impact. Braun was medevaced to Anchorage for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash.
“Seat belts were worn by both drivers and alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash,” according to the report.
