Trial for Valley teen accused of murdering fellow teen pushed to November

PALMER— Jordan Flowers, a Mat-Su Valley teen accused of killing a fellow teen, attended a pre-trial conference at the Palmer Courthouse on Thursday. Flowers’ trial was pushed to November after his attorney requested more time.

“There’s more investigating being done,” Flower’s defense attorney, Dianne Thoben, said.

Thoben asked Palmer Judge Jonathan Woodman to push the trial out at least two months. The state did not have any objections.

Woodman set another pre-trial conference for Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m., with a trial week scheduled to begin Nov. 18.

Flowers, 19, allegedly shot and killed Gunnar Swan, 18, on Jan. 27, according to according to online dispatch records from the Alaska State Troopers. Authorities claim that Flowers pointed a loaded pistol at Swan and pulled the trigger, striking his neck and killing him.

Flowers is currently facing six chargers related to Swan’s death, including murder in the first degree and murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and manslaughter according to online court records.
