To the editor:
I have lived and worked in our Valley for many years. I have taught for the Mat-Su School District for going on 33 years and have seen our district and the school board go through many changes and challenges over those years. With the upcoming elections on Oct. 6, I am strongly urging all my friends to vote for these three very worthy candidates.
We need to re-elect Sarah Welton for her experience and dedication to education. She has served our school board well and has proven herself to be a strong supporter of our kids. Frankly, she gets the job done. We also need to bring back Erick Cordero for his ability to build consensus among the board members and his willingness to examine the issues from different angles. I feel Adam Boyd would be a very worthwhile, and much needed, new voice on our board. I have talked with him and like his enthusiasm and fresh ideas on getting our schools and administration working together for the benefit of the students.
All three of these candidates have expressed a strong desire to be proactive on the issues and needs of our ever-growing district. They will be a great team dedicated to the education of our future — for our children are our future.
