I don’t think any member of the media thought we’d be waiting this long for the Troopergate report to come out.
The Legislative Council went into executive session shortly after 9 a.m. today, taking the meeting into secret discussions. Around 12:30 p.m. we’re still waiting in the hall.
Some legislators expressed concern before the meeting went private because they felt they hadn’t read the report enough to be familiar with it.
Independent investigator Steve Branchflower’s report is rumored to be 1,000 pages long. Around 11:30 a.m., state Senate President Sen. Lyda Green, R-Wasilla, said the Legislative Council was on page 20.
The hallway here at the state Legislative Offices at 716 W. 4th Ave. look like some sort of shelter. Reporters and camera operators from around the world are sitting against the walls waiting for something to happen. There’s a strong smell of food, as everyone has realized nothing is going to happen soon and went to get lunch.
There’s a least three British reporters here, and a crew from Japan is hoping to make its 4 p.m. Pacific time deadline. ABC news is also present and CNN has a crew here as well, among many others.
Outside along 4th Avenue, a group of Palin supporters calling themselves “Students for Palin” are getting honks from cars, along with a few negative remarks.
