WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers arrested three Wasilla men on Thursday and Friday in connection with a burglary last month on Loussac Lane.
Troopers said in an online dispatch that troopers with the Criminal Suppression Unit arrested James McGee, 31, Evan Hensley, 29, and Brandon Haxton, 32, on numerous felony counts. McGee and Hensley were held at Mat-Su Pretrial Facility without bail, while Haxton was held on $10,000 bail with the provision that he get a third-party custodian if released.
The arrests came a little more than two weeks after the crime, which was reported at around 2 p.m. on Dec. 21. In their initial report about the crime, troopers said a home and outbuilding were burglarized at some point between the last week of November and when the report was made. Items stolen included guns, tools, home heaters and vehicles valued at between $30,000 and $70,000.
A trooper spokesperson told the Frontiersman that the homeowners were out of town when the crimes occurred. They first became aware something was amiss when they got a call from someone at a different location complaining about trash dumped on his property. That trash contained a business card of the burglary victim, so he called to complain.
The victim said he didn’t know anything about the trash, but called a friend to check on the property. It was then the scope of the burglary was uncovered.
During their investigation, troopers said they were able to recover three vehicles and about half of the stolen items.
Troopers said an investigation into the case continues.
