WASILLA — A 31-year-old man on probation for felony drunk driving briefly fled from Alaska State Troopers in a stolen car early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Troopers say when they tried to contact Joseph Jackson Jr. following a dangerous driver report on the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander he was driving, he eluded them for about 2 miles before losing control on a corner.
Jackson was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control, passed through a stand of trees into a residential yard and struck a well casing, causing the vehicle to roll, troopers say.
Jackson was under the influence of alcohol when contacted about 4:30 a.m. June 30, troopers said. He also was found to be on probation for felony DUI and criminal mischief.
The Wasilla man was arrested for felony drunk driving, felony eluding, first-degree vehicle theft, DWLR, and violating his probation.
Jackson was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility on $7,500 bail and requirements for a third-party custodian.
