Troopers arrest man who stole, pawned silver bars

WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers say a houseguest made off with $7,000 worth of silver this week.

According to a trooper press statement, report of the theft came in at 11:23 a.m. Monday. The missing silver was in bar form.

“Matthew Scott Brass, age 21, of Wasilla, stole the silver bars and pawned them while he was a guest at the residence,” troopers allege in the press statement.

Brass was apprehended in Houston at around 1 p.m. Tuesday. He was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $6,000 bail, charged with second-degree theft. Jail records early Wednesday morning listed him as still incarcerated.
