Local law enforcement believes there is a lethal batch of illegal drugs currently circulating in the Mat-Su, causing a rise in overdoses.
The Alaska State Troopers have responded to several suspected overdoses this week in the Valley, troopers said in a public safety alert released late Friday afternoon. Troopers said they believe at least three people have died as the result of drugs, likely containing fentanyl, as of Friday, and at least 11 other overdose emergencies have been reported to law enforcement since April 1.
Law enforcement officers in southcentral Alaska are investigating the source of these illicit narcotics.
