SUTTON — A homeowner in Sutton went to the hospital after being assaulted while he slept in the early morning hours Monday.
Whoever gained entry into the home stole medications and electronics, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The homeowner, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital by an ambulance to be treated for unspecified injuries, according troopers.
Troopers report the medication and electronics stolen from the home were valued at about $2,000.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said Tuesday the victim thinks he was targeted because of his prescription medications and the 32 inch LCD television in his house.
No suspect has been identified, and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation will likely assist with the investigation, Peters said.
She added this is the first such robbery in the area, but a lot of burglaries have occurred in the surrounding area over the past few months.
There was no sign of forced entry at the home, Peters said.
Troopers are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call 745-2131 or 373-8300, or call Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
