PALMER — The search continues for a 59-year-old woman last seen Friday afternoon near the Alaska State Fairgrounds.

A family member reported Theresa Mayo missing to the Palmer Police Department at 3:30 p.m., March 21, according to a statement from Alaska State Troopers.

Her family describes her as a dark-haired woman, weighing about 90 pounds who was last seen around 11:45 a.m. that day wearing a black down coat and possibly a black knit hat.

When an AST search of the area near her residence turned up nothing, they say they called for an assist from MAT SAR Search and Rescue. That search by three K9 teams and 10 ground searchers also came up empty, troopers report.

Troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain said it is unknown whether Mayo is still in the immediate area or whether she caught a ride from someone.

“We’re definitely concerned for her safety, especially with it being cold overnight,” he said.

The search for Mayo continues, DeSpain said.

“We’d appreciate any help that we can get from the public,” he said.

Anyone who has seen Mayo since March 21 is asked to contact troopers at 352-5401, or call 911.
