The Alaska State Troopers (AST) are asking for the public’s help in helping solve a 2021 homicide that has gone cold.
In a video posted to the AST Facebook page, Captain Tony Wegrzyn said that troopers have been investigating the unsolved homicide of 26-year-old Arnoldine Hill for over three years.
“Dozens of Alaska State Troopers have been assigned to investigate this murder, however this case has turned cold.”
On January 9, 2021, AST investigators located the body of Hill, originally from Hooper Bay. Her body was recovered in a pullout near milepost 81 of the Parks Highway, just north of Willow near Kashwitna.
Hill had not been reported as a missing person to authorities, but Captain Wegrzyn said that upon their investigation and autopsy results, her death has been ruled a homicide.
“Investigators believe that she was most likely killed in Anchorage a few days before her body was discovered.”
Hill was last known to be alive as of December 10, 2020, having been seen in midtown Anchorage, and Wegrzyn said she may have been in Anchorage, Wasilla, or Willow in the days leading up to her death. She was also a mother to an 8-month old infant.
She is described as an Alaskan Native, 4’11” and approximately150 pounds. She had shoulder-length dark brown hair, brown eyes, and a distinct mole below her lower right lip.
“We know there are people with information about Arnoldine’s death that have not yet come forward,” said Captain Wegrzyn, who went on to say that the Mat-Su Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of Hill's killer.
A Facebook page has also been set up, “Justice for Arnoldine Simone Kayla Viola Hill,”
AST is asking anyone with information to share to contact the Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at matsu-crimestoppers.org or call (907) 745-3333. Tips can be made anonymously. Alternatively, people may also contact the AST at (907) 352-5401 and referencing case number AK2100279.
“Any information not already shared with law enforcement may help us find Arnoldine’s killer and bring closure to her family.”
