WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers say a search warrant served as part of an investigation into marijuana distribution in Western Alaska turned up 10 pounds of marijuana early Friday morning.
According to an AST press statement, the warrant was served at 3:45 a.m. at a home off of Sands Drive.
“Over 10 pounds of marijuana was seized. In addition to the seized marijuana, investigators also seized various types of marijuana-related grow equipment, a scale, drug packaging materials and an industrial-size diesel generator,” according to the press release.
The homeowner, Gregory J. Tovsen, 51, was arrested and charged with felony drug misconduct and evidence tampering. He was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with bail set at $20,000 and a requirement he find a third party to watch him before he can be released. Court records show he appeared at a hearing Friday. Jail records late Saturday morning showed he had already made bail and been released.
“This investigation stemmed from a continuing investigation regarding the distribution of bulk marijuana being distributed to communities in Western Alaska,” troopers say.
