MAT-SU — If you’re growing marijuana in the Valley and Alaska State Troopers didn’t put you out of business in the last couple weeks, you might be in the minority.
Starting May 29, troopers took down three grow operations from Chickaloon to Big Lake, according to AST reports.
The first was May 29 in Chickaloon, where troopers report they found 55 plants in a crawlspace of a home they were sent to after someone hung up while on the line with 911 operators.
The second came May 31 in Wasilla, at a home off of Knik-Goose Bay Road where investigators served a warrant, turning up 33 live plants, 15 harvested plants and more than a pound of processed marijuana.
The last grow reported in the press releases was taken down Tuesday when troopers went to a home on Victor Road in Big Lake to help medics already on scene. Troopers found the grow, got a warrant and seized 38 plants.
The only person arrested in any of those incidents was in Big Lake, though troopers expect charges in the other two cases.
In Big Lake, Richard Kroeze, 48, was charged with drug misconduct and jailed on $20,000 bail. Jail records Saturday afternoon showed he’d posted bail and been released.
