WASILLA - An Anchorage man working as a contract employee for American Fast Freight was transported by ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Hospital Thursday afternoon after sustaining severe injuries to his right hand.

Emergency crews and Alaska State Troopers responded to the parking lot of the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman's press facility, 5751 E. Mayflower Court, around 3 p.m.

The man, John E. Buckley, 45, was assisting two other American Fast Freight drivers in an attempt to free a semi trailer from the snow on a frontage road in front of the Frontiersman along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.

Buckley was attempting to place a tire chain in front of the rear drive tires of the stuck truck when the driver of the stuck truck rolled forward, pinning his arm between the chain, the ground and the tire.
