To the editor,
Thanks to Republican Donald Trump’s candidacy for president, American voters are doing some positive soul-searching, which is likely to bring about more good than harm —eventually. Political soul-searching is what motivated America’s founding fathers at a time in human history when basic, fundamental changes in political and social standards were needed for the benefit of mankind.
A similar need-for-change is fast approaching, not only in America, but in all the civilized countries of the world. Global warming is a double-edged sword that will require sacrifices and changes in our modern standard of living, as well as a re-examination of our outlook on life. On the other hand, global warming will unite humanity in an effort for sustained survival, which will also bring about a deeper understanding of life and an honest willingness to “live and let live.”
In regards to Donald Trump, I can’t believe he is the stupid person he appears to be. Perhaps like the rich CEO of a large corporation who wants to give something back to America —which made it possible for Warren to become a billionaire in the first place— Donald Trump might have a different way to contribute to America. Instead of wanting to win the election, Trump’s real motive might be to induce the thinking people of America to re-examine the basic principles America was built on. Even Trump’s hard-line supporters might think twice about America’s core values.
Regardless of my pipe dreams and Trump’s true intentions, America will get what it deserves.
