WASILLA — Dual accidents within hours of each other snarled traffic on the Parks Highway Friday starting shortly after 3 p.m.
The first accident, involving a minivan, a work truck and a large van happened in front of Lowe’s just past Hermon Road shortly after 3 p.m.
On scene, emergency responders had to cut the roof from the Toyota Sienna mini-van. It was the van that caused the accident, rear-ending the truck and pushing it into the van when traffic was stopped on the highway Wasilla Police Department Deputy Chief Greg Wood said.
He said the driver of the van was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The second accident, on the overpass at Seward-Meridian Parkway, occurred as police were waiting to clear away the minivan from the first accident.
Police on scene at the first accident were diverted to the second.
