WILLOW -- The number of eradicated methamphetamine labs continued to climb when the Mat-Su Drug Team busted its 25th lab of the year on June 3. Investigators served a search warrant on a suspected lab at a cabin, eight miles up Alexander Creek in Willow. According to an affidavit filed by Trooper Kyle Young, the cabin contained multiple meth-related items, including containers full of meth lab chemicals and cooking equipment. Kristy W. Sherwood, 52, and Jackie D. Bliss, 52, both of Wasilla, are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.
Young's report also states that investigators found an unopened case of 1,000 matchbooks and an empty case of matchbooks at Sherwood's residence in Wasilla. Matchbooks are often purchased for manufacturing meth. Other items at Sherwood's residence included receipts from Carrs/Safeway stores, where some of the meth-related items were purchased, using a Carrs Club card. According to Young, the Alexander Creek lab resembles many others, in that it was found at a private residence.
