MAT-SU — A pair of death investigations led to the seizure of a pair of marijuana grows Wednesday.
According to Alaska State Troopers, the first and smaller marijuana grow was seized shortly before noon at a home on Bay View Drive.
“Wasilla Police responded to the residence for the report of a deceased male subject. Upon arrival, the Mat-Su Narcotics Team located 12 live marijuana plants,” according to a press release.
The press releases don’t say if the two grows or deaths were related. A call seeking clarification with the Mat-Su Narcotics Team was not returned Monday.
That first grow will not result in criminal charges, troopers report, as “the deceased male was the only occupant of the residence.”
That was apparently not the case at around 9:30 p.m., when drug unit troopers were sent to a home off of Hyer Road where patrol troopers had recently conducted a death investigation.
“Upon arrival, the Mat-Su Narcotics Team located 102 live marijuana plants and related grow equipment,” according to the second press release.
Troopers estimate the dry weight of the marijuana at 6.6 pounds and say criminal charges were sent to the district attorney, though the press release doesn’t say against whom.
