WASILLA — Two people was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a vehicle crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Mayflower Lane.

Alaska State Troopers said Wasilla's Daniel Knocker, 60, was driving east in a silver Chevy Tahoe when he turned in front of a black Chevy Silverado driven by Keifer Rout, 18, of Wasilla. Rout's vehicle t-boned the Tahoe and both vehicles received extensive damage.

Witnesses said they saw a violent collision, with one man reporting both vehicles getting airborne. The Silverado suffered extensive damage to its front end, while the Tahoe's passenger side was caved in by the crash.

"They were both in the air," said Wasilla's Gordon Ward, who was one car back of the crash while driving home from voting in Tuesday's election.

Troopers said both drivers reported wearing their seatbelts and both reported minor injuries.

Knocker was cited for failure to yield when making a left turn.

CORRECTION: This story has been changed to reflect the fact that the Tahoe, not the Silverado, had damage to its side and the fact both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
