Two injured in Butte-area house fire

Two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after escaping a house fire in the Clark Road/Clark-Wolverine area of Butte, according to Mat-Su Borough emergency officials.

According to Ken Barkley, borough deputy director for emergency services, the two were taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One occupant had to escape by jumping from a second story window, while the other was able to escape through a door, Barkley said.

Barkley said the small home was fully engulfed when firefighters and EMS personnel from the Palmer and Butte departments arrived.

“It was a quick response,” Barkley said in an email.

The call came in around 8:30 a.m. for the home located near Clark Road. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 9 a.m., according to reports.
