WASILLA-- Alaska State Troopers responded at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday to a three-vehicle accident near the intersection of E. Bogard Road and N. Elsinore in Wasilla.
According to reports, Thomas A. Conway, 40, of Anchorage, was stopped on E. Bogard Road in a brown 1978 Ford pickup truck. Richard F. Kaspar, 78, of Palmer, was driving west on Bogard in a 1999 Buick and failed to stop, striking Conway's truck from the rear. Kaspar's car then veered across the centerline into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a blue 1990 Chevrolet pickup driven by Joan M. Matthews, 60, of Wasilla.
Both Matthews and Conway were taken to Valley Hospital in Palmer. According to the hospital, Conway was treated and released, while Matthews was held for observation. Although the front end of the Buick was completely demolished, Kaspar walked away from the accident uninjured. Deployed air bags were visible through the Buick's open doors.
At the scene Trooper Vance Peronto said there were no passengers in either the truck or the car. Wreckers were called to remove all three vehicles.
